Life has been a little jumbled lately, with our Thanksgiving holiday, solids, a mobile baby, and well, just life in general… it has been busy. So, sorry for the delay in writing!
This was Novellas first Thanksgiving, the exciting thing about this was, she had just started solids a couple of weeks before, so she got to enjoy some yummy food outside of her usual breastmilk only diet! She was certainly a big fan of mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes! It seemed like no matter how far away from her I moved the plate she still manage to smash her hands in and grab a handful of mashed potatoes! Ryan had duty, so in the morning Novella and I got up and went to breakfast at our friends Linda and Larrys. We had homemade buttermilk pancakes, sausage links and orange juice. Then we sat and visited and watched the Macy’s day parade. Afterward we headed over to their daughters home for lunch. The food was wonderful and mighty filling! Only a few hours later Novella and I headed out to base to have yet another Thanksgiving meal with the duty section crew and their family members, it was fun to get to still share some of our day celebrating with Ryan. It was overall a very nice and extremely filling and fulfilling day! We are truly blessed to have the friends we do, here in Sturgeon Bay!
As mentioned above, Novella is eating solids now, she turned six months almost 2 weeks ago! Boy how time flies! It is hard to believe our little girl is already half a year old! We started her on homemade applesauce, then we added in homemade carrots, homemade spinach, homemade chicken, and then of course getting to try all of the yummy Thanksgiving food! It seems that no matter what time of the day we sit down for food, she gets sleepy. She will play with the food a little bit in her mouth, or grab at the spoon or play with it on the tray and it never fails…she begins to rub her sleepy eyes…this results in food…EVERYWHERE, and typically calls for a bath (speaking of baths, Novella has been upgraded to big girl bathtime and LOVES IT!!) One thing I can say without a doubt, is this little girl LOVES FOOD!!

Hard to believe this little girl was in my belly just a little over six months ago! She has been such a joy, and continues to amaze us everyday! Her pediatrician has told us that she is very ahead developmentally, healthy and perfect! We couldn’t have asked for more! She is weighing in at almost 18 lbs and 27 1/2 inches, growing like a weed. This past weekend she officially became a crawler, and she isn’t slowing her pace, she has even been caught pulling herself up into a standing position all on her own (although she doesn’t stay upright for long!) She “sings” along when music is on, and loves to watch the little kids play at church, MOPS, and storytime. She soaks everything in, and has fun trying new things. She has a kitchen bamboo spoon that she loves to play with and a wooden toy with bells. She will wave her hand around and around watching the bells jingle and play their little tune with the work of her tiny hands.
She also loves stories, we read to her throughout the days (she tries to eat them). I am a book consultant for Usborne Books and More, so we have not shortage of awesome books in our household, if I didn’t have a budget we would go broke buying books! 🙂 Novella also loves peek-a-boo. She has learned how to pull a blanket off of her head and giggles in pure delight to see someone pop up and say BOO! She is one of the happiest babies I have ever known.
Thank you God for this beautiful little miracle that you chose to entrust us with! She is nothing short of amazing!
