If you read our last blog, you know we had a couple of appointments this week. If you did not read it, please check it out HERE!!
In the past few months we have been working on getting all the checks in the boxes to move forward with Aveline getting her feeding tube removed… yesterday our prayers for our sweet girl were answered!! She has worked so hard to get to this point, we all have honestly! From oral exercises, zvibes, nuk brushes, weekly therapies, cup changes, different methods of food, struggling through mealtimes, celebrating inchstones, pushing fluids… etc. Things we still have to continue to work at and therapy will still continue as we continue to strengthen her muscles. However, she is going upward on the growth and weight charts. She is improving in her speech day by day, and we haven’t used her feeding tube in 6 months!!! 6 months!!!!
So yesterday her gi doctor, whom we love came in and said she was very happy with Avelines progression, everything looked fabulous and after our appointment we would be discharged from her care unless something new arose. Avelines tubie was removed!! It hurt a little bit, but she didn’t even shed a tear! She is one of the bravest little girls I’ve ever met, stronger than ever, and quite the little fighter!!
As long as it closes up on its own we are in the clear and so far so good, no leaking, and it looks beautiful! If any problems arise they will gether in for surgery in about 2 weeks to close it up, but right now it is looking like we might dodge that!!
We spent the rest of the day as a family, went to Port Angeles, got to see Ryans boats, and explore. It was beautiful and it was a very nice and much needed family day!!
This morning I got up early and headed in by myself to my growth scan for baby girl #3. (They do not allow children at ultrasound appointments, so Ryan has not gotten to see her moving and in action, but they do give me print offs of her for him to see!) As you all may remember, I have a history of larger babies, gestational diabetes, shoulder dystocia and insulin. This pregnancy is no different, I failed my diabetes glucose test so badly I did not have to take the 3 hour, I was automatically given the title of gestational diabetic again, at about 7 weeks pregnant! So I have been sticking my finger 4 times a day for quite awhile now. Then as numbers jumped, I was put on insulin once a day for now, we are constantly adjusting the units of insulin I am taking and the amount is slowly creeping up as my numbers continue to creep.
So I had my growth scan this morning, I have another one in about 4 weeks and I begin 2x a week non-stress tests to monitor babies movement next week. I am currently 31 weeks and 3days pregnant, today our sweet girl was measuring at 33 weeks, 93rd percentile, 4lbs 14oz plus or minus 11oz. So it looks like another large baby is coming our way end of May/early June. Her due date is originally set at June 9th, but we already have a csection scheduled for June 3rd at 8am. Due to Avelines traumatic birth (you can read about that here) our doctor, Ryan and I decided it was in my and babys best interest to do a csection for safety reasons this time. I would laugh if she decided to come on her own the week of the girls bdays though!! Lol
Well, until next time, non stress tests, ob appointments, Avelines therapies, a few evaluations, girls well visits, birthdays, family visit, and baby at some point…. we havea busy 2 months upon us, and we are excited to share the journey with you! Thank you for your prayers, support, encouragement, and celebrations with us!!!
