Well, if you have not heard the Frazier Five moved again. As you know Ryan is Active Duty Coast Guard. This move was not expected at all, we were not supposed to move until Summer 2022, but God had other plans and March, April and May have been quite the whirlwind for us.
In March Ryan found out he was making E6! YAY!! 3 days later they told us we were up for transfer! 😳 We had a week to get our list of top choices from the list of available units in order from I really want this unit to, nope no thanks. We put in a list of 22 units. Then we waited…. we ended up getting our 13th choice, a cutter called the James Rankin out of Baltimore, MD. We found out housing was not available and to rent would be much higher than we could afford, so we made the decision to buy…. well due to the short notice of our transfer and our fast timeline, because Ryan’s new unit needed him ASAP…. we hired a real estate agent and immediately began house hunting… virtually.
Countless showings later, 2 offers not accepted (we were the runner up on both, but this market is crazy right now!), and 2 offers made and pulled… we put in our 5th offer and it was ACCEPTED within a couple of hours! The beauty of this story is that the house we got was on the market for almost as long as we were house hunting but it never crossed our radar. God truly was allowing us to pour our faith into him and trust him all while he had this house on reserve for us! More on the house later!
So we hired a moving company that we pack and load then they drive it… the dates got messed up somehow and they were unable to have the units we needed available on time, so we hired another company only to realize our belongings would not fit in their unit. Hired a broker, he hired a moving company to load and move us. The company arrived and tried to exploit and swindle us for $11,000 more than our contract. Needless to say, after hours of negotiations they left without our belongings. 2 days later the broker had another company come out… same thing, only they wanted more money… we told them they could leave without our belongings and then we told the broker we would not be able to work with them anymore. So on a last ditch effort I called back the original company that we wanted to go with in the first place and they JUST HAPPENED to have a trailer available for us that week!! Now if you haven’t been counting… we got our 5th house, 5th moving company, we moved during the 5th month and it took us 5 days, with 5 people. Unfortunately not all 5 pets made it… nutmeg our guinea pig and Basil our fish both died just a couple of days before we left.
To say the past 2 months have been a whirlwind that would be the understatement of the year… However, we persevered, we had faith and A LOT OF PRAYERS… AND GOD WAS FAITHFUL! He always is… but man we were tested! He allowed us to go through this journey to get to the next chapter. Saying see you later to our church family and our neighbors was challenging to say the least. We made some amazing friends and connections in Washington, but we were ready to go and start anew.
Thank you everyone for covering us in your prayers over the past few months, it is so greatly appreciated!! We will update you more on our house fun, birthdays and everything else in between soon!
