Water Heater

When we bought our house, one of the selling points was the large jacuzzi tub in the basement  (okay, there is a small jetted tub upstairs too that is totally fantastic as well). Unfortunately the water heater in the home was too small. We could not even fill the tub up to the Jets with hot water. The few times we did use the tub we had to use all the water from the hot water heater, and then proceed to boil water in pots upstairs and bring them down. The process to have a full hot bath in the big jacuzzzi would take us 45 minutes to an hour. By then, you need a good soak! Haha

We are big fans of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and go in and look around at least one to two times a week. One day we went in and they had a couple of new in box water heaters (larger than what we had at our home), for $100. It was just too good of a deal to pass up, so we bought one. Our original plan was to just replace the one we had and sell it. Then my mom said, why not run them in tandem? So I mentioned it to Ryan, didn’t take him long to begin researching and watching YouTube videos on what needed to be done. So we had a plan…

Then… Our Guest Room Flooded… so that took precidence in our time and finances, so the water heater sat in its box in the basement for several weeks. Then much to my surprise a few days ago, Ryan started his next project. He got everything set up, made a list, and we headed to the local cooperative (another place we like to go!). A gentleman there was able to help him know exactly what he would need, and I entertained Novella with squeaky dog toys on another aisle. Lol

After a couple trips for last minute items at the cooperative,  a few hours over a couple of days, a few minor frustrations, and one late night… he completed the project, and man, don’t they look sharp?!?! Way to go Ryan!

Now, if only we didn’t have another project going on in the guest bathroom simultaneously, then I could test out the new water heater and fill up the tub…but more about the project in another post. I should probably clean out the cobwebs and daddy long legs that have made that tub their home during the time that it has been deemed as too much work to fill up.

After we finished our bathroom project, we successfully filled the entire tub at a comfortable bath water temperature, and still had hot water to spare! Hooray!!

Sorry daddy Long legs, time to find a new home!
