JUST a Pouch of Food?

To many this pouch of food, may look just like that, an empty pouch of food.

However, if you have know the Frazier Frontier for long you also likely know about the struggles with feeding and eating we have endured and overcome over the past couple of years with Aveline. Novella our first was always a pretty picky eater, but she ate! Aveline liked to try foods, most, if not all foods, but struggled to swallow said foods, aspirated lots, became failure to thrive, and ended up having to get a feeding tube in January of 2018, then graduated this past April 2019!!

So this little pouch is something to celebrate. Ravenna, our third child and daughter is 7 months old now. I have always been a firm believer in waiting until 6 months to feed solids, but this little lady gave us looks when we were eating and would sit smacking her lips until we let her try something around 5.5 months.

Her first official food was mashed up carrots and she DEVOURED them. Novella was homemade foods and mostly baby led weaning. Aveline never even made a dent in baby food pouches… so this little pouch, being empty in a 24 hour period is HUGE for us. It gives us a sense of peace and a sigh of relief, as we don’t know if Avelines genetic duplication is something passed from one of us or completely de novo (a fluke) incident. So while some may think an empty food pouch is no big deal… to us we celebrated, we cried, we praised the Lord for he is truly faithful and good! She has since learned to try and enjoy many other foods, gaining weight, growing, thriving.

This is not to say that we may not face other challenges later on in life, but for now, we will celebrate an empty, eaten and enjoyed food pouch!!!
