Recently we had quite the scare with Aveline. If you are on Facebook you may have read our prayer requests, if you are not I may have reached out to you. Our little fighter found herself having migraines, and constant headaches. We were referred to neurology, and they sent us for a brain MRI. This is where they found that the cyst they had found a few years ago had grown unexpectedly. They referred us to neurosurgery to further follow up and see what we were looking at.

With so many unknowns it is not unnatural for your mind to wander, for you to become anxious, for you to consider those worse case scenarios… it’s not uncommon and I would love to say that we weren’t worried or scared or distracted day to day, I’d like to say there weren’t tears, meltdowns, anger, frustration, anxiety… BUT I cannot say that. We experienced a wave of emotions, hard conversations, anger, frustration, deep deep sadness, worry, and so on… you can imagine!

However, in that same breath… God taught us peace, faithfulness and trust. I have had a relationship with Christ for many years now, as has Ryan. That doesn’t mean we don’t waver and it doesn’t mean that we can’t still learn. Boy oh Boy, did God speak truth, love, peace, faith and much more to us in this past month. Out of nowhere one day the story in the Bible in Matthew 8:23-27 popped into my head and it was this story that I clung to for the past few weeks.

This is the story where Jesus calms the storm. “Who is he that even the winds and waves obey him?” The disciples said after he was awoken and calmed the storm that the disciples were so terrified of… but Micah, why did you cling to this verse you may be asking. Simple, Jesus was in the boat SLEEPING. He was not worried about the storm. The disciples were never alone, and neither are we. Our Almighty Savior, protector, redeemer is in the boat with us through ALL the storms of life! Who is he that even the winds and waves obey him? He is our protector! That’s who, he is in control of the storms of our lives, he is in the boat with us. I CLUNG TO THIS, I CONTINUE TO CLING TO THIS TRUTH!

So much so, that the morning of Avelines appointment with neurosurgery we were doing schoolwork and her verse that day… not even pulling your leg…

If God wasn’t speaking to me this past month then I am going crazy! What a beautiful blessing to know and have faith, trust and belief in our Heavenly Father and for him to reach down and give us these reminders! No matter what you may be going through, no matter how great or small it is. It is significant to HIM! HE LOVES YOU, and HE IS with you, HE IS carrying you, HE IS IN THE BOAT WITH YOU! HE IS NOT SCARED OR WORRIED! HE IS in control!!! Who is he that even the winds and waves obey him?!?!

So with that being said… we went to our appointment that afternoon, we waited for weeks, felt like we were in turmoil for weeks… to be told… that it IS a cyst, they could see the fluid, to reassure us that growth is normal, and decrease after puberty is normal. We will continue to follow up with neurology for the headaches and migraines, and do an annual mri to continue to be sure the cyst does not have any significance. We waited, and waited to be told that our daughter is OKAY!!!

I don’t know your story, I don’t know your trials and tribulations… but I know truth, and I know that if you will trust in him with all of your heart, soul and mind he will NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU! HE WILL CARRY YOU, AND CONTROL YOUR STORMS!
